Updated: Jul 28, 2018

Central Virginia has been my home for nearly three decades. Whatever the reason may be that you're considering a move to Central Virginia, I can assure you that you will find countless reasons to fall in love with my hometown. Here are my personal Top 5... ish.

1. Libby Hill Park

Located in the the historic Churchill district, Libby Hill Park draws folks from all over Richmond. A picturesque spot for sunset-watchers, I've seen countless photo shoots, proposals, and picnics at the Park.

2. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden

A Henrico County gem, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden is home to even more Virginian history, dating back to the late 19th Century. Tours of Ginter's former home are sometimes available to the public. The Lakeside district garden is consistently ranked among our nation's best, and is sure to peak the interest of your entire family.

4. Breweries and Distilleries

Teeming with young professionals, Richmond, VA's world class breweries, distilleries, and wineries are sure to please. Perhaps my favorite is Scott's Addition's The Veil, which features First Friday Movie Nights and a sleek design.

Location: 1301 Roseneath Rd, Richmond, VA 23230

Also of note, just 25 minutes outside of the Shenandoah Valley National Park and beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway, Bold Rock Tap Room at Carter Mountain Orchard offers a picturesque patio overlooking its orchards, and family-friendly apple picking in season.

Location: 1435 Carters Mountain Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22902

5. The Byrd Theater

Located in Carytown, The Byrd Theater has been "Richmond's Movie Place" since 1928. Famous for its Saturday evening organ player, who emerges from the stage before screening begins, the Theater is conveniently located just blocks from some of Richmond's favorite restaurants: The Daily, East Coast Provisions, Can Can Brasserie, Baker's Crust, and Stuzzi, just to name a few.

Sorry, I can't resist one more...

6. Richmond's Street Art

Hundreds of beautiful murals color the brick walls outside many of Richmond's local businesses. Learn more about these beautiful designs by visiting: https://richmondmuralproject.squarespace.com/

I could tell you all about the memories I've made in concert crowds at The National, in dining booths at Shyndigz, and on docks at Pocahontas Park. But I'm confident you will find all these reasons and more to discover why Virginia Is for Lovers.
